Heaven Can Wait Equine Rescue

Strongly believes that horses, along with all animals, deserve a life free from pain, abuse, starvation, neglect, and torture in any form – be it physical, mental, or emotional.
We as humans, have the ability to change our circumstances. Animals however, do not . Animals cannot free themselves from a life of abuse or neglect. They are subject to whatever care, or lack thereof, they receive from humans. They cannot ‘run away from home’ and start a new life. They cannot go to the supermarket and buy themselves food. They cannot pick up a phone and call for help. They are powerful - yet helpless.

We support the responsible use of working, sport, and pleasure horses, ponies and donkeys.  We will rescue horses from slaughter, starvation, abuse and neglect or take on horses whose owners can no longer afford to keep and care for them but want ensure that they find good homes.

Our Motto
You can't change the world by helping one horse,
But you can change the whole world for the one horse you saved

Our Mission

To provide a safe and stable environment for equines that find their way to us.  Our mission is to prevent the neglect or abuse of any equine, and to provide shelter, rehabilitation and an adoption program for those animals iwho need us.  We are dedicated to horse rescue, horse rehabilitation, and re-homing of these wonderful, sensitive, intelligent animals so that they can live long and happy lives in a safe and loving environment

Our Policy

When we agree to take on a horse/pony our policy is to spend as much time with them as possible, in doing so we become aware of their natures, how they interact with children, other horses and pets.
We will also ensure that they have basic schooling so that when they do go to a new home, the new "parents"  will be able to enjoy their new horse almost immediately (once they have settled into their new surroundings, of course).
Because we spend the time with them we become more aware of their individual personalities, strength’s and weakness’s enabling us, hopefully,  to place them in the correct home right from the start. To us this is very important, but it also means that sometimes they will be with us for a bit longer

Our Rehabilitation Programme

Our rehabilitation programme consists of proper nutrition, veterinary care, hoof care, grooming, training, schooling and love. We believe in a "holistic" approach to rehabilitation not only satifying the physical needs of the horses, but their minds and spirits as well.

Long Term Goals

Our primary long term goal is to acquire a property that will become our permanent home

We plan to run holiday and weekend programs and camps for school going children,  The main aim of these programs and camps will be to educate our younger generation on the importance of equine welfare and care, by getting them actively involved in the day to day care of the equines.

Whether you are looking for a child's or beginner's horse, or maybe a trail, pleasure, or show horse for yourself, or a companion horse for your other horses, consider adopting one of our horses.

We will be publishing Information on health care issues relevant to equine welfare as well as other information  from time to time, and these will be change and be added to on an ongoing basis... so keep checking.

We rely entirely on donations.

HCW depends upon the generosity of others to accomplish it's goals. Not only do we depend on you – our horses do as well. We accept both cash donations and item donations consisting of hay, feed, shavings and services from equine practitioners.

We would also gratefully accept second hand tack, blankets etc that are still in good condition that we could use.
We cannot do this alone.  We need assistance from caring individuals, groups, and businesses.  No amount is too small -- please give today to help the horses by visiting our “how can I help” page

Just remember, any donation, doesn't matter how small can make a difference. It is only by your generosity that we can help these amazing animals find new homes where they will be loved and cared for the way they deserve.
